The Norwegian Embassy in Nairobi and Innovation Norway East Africa– supported by NABA – will organize an Energy Week in Nairobi.
Kenya’s national long-term economic blue-print (Vision 2030) places energy as one of the infrastructure enablers of its socio-economic pillar. Accordingly, the government has set ambitious targets to increase current energy generation by more than 5-fold, within the next 10 years. To achieve this mark the government is encouraging private sector investment, through creating stronger enabling environment – for instance attractive feed-in-tariff and tax relief for solar products.
Team Norway; the Norwegian Embassy in Nairobi and Innovation Norway East Africa has been in discussion with the Kenyan government and other energy stakeholders, on areas of interest and value for Norwegian energy companies. Business opportunities are mainly within development of small-hydropower/wind/solar/biomass power plants, building transmission lines, and offering consultancy for engineering projects.
In line with the above ambitions Team Norway together with NABA and other partners – is organizing an Energy Week in Nairobi, Kenya from 10th – 13th September 2018. The energy week is targeted at energy companies from Norway and East African region.
The activities lined up for the week include:
- 10th September – Field visit.
Norwegian Embassy will host a reception at the Ambassador’s residence for the Energy Week participants
- 11th September – Seminar on Business Opportunities in Kenya/East Africa
- 12th –13th September – Conference & Exhibition at Future Energy East Africa
