New Podcast: To the Point

Today, we are launching, in collaboration with Nurmara, a new podcast called “To the Point”. The series provides a platform for honest debate about critical issues driving Africa's policy, business, and development landscape. The aim is to get to the point of the core challenges the continent faces, and identify tangible steps towards overcoming them. Each episode focuses on a major topic. The core of the podcast is an open discussion between the guests and the host, Lanre Akinola - editor of Nurmara, Naba’s content partner for the series.

The first episode will focus on the challenges and opportunities of renewable energy in Africa. The continent’s potential is well established. With the price for sources like solar plummeting in recent years, there has been much talk of a renewables revolution on the continent. But harnessing this potential could prove to be easier said than done. A recent study by the University of Oxford has warned that renewable energy will account for less than 10% of overall energy production in Africa by 2030, without significant policy changes and increased investment.

In the first episode, our guests for the podcast are: Maximillian Jarrett - Africa Programme Manager at the International Energy Agency Sanjeev Gupta - Executive Director for Financial Services at the Africa Finance Corporation Raymond Carlsen - CEO of Scatec.
