Ms. Vera Songwe
Ms. Vera Songwe is the Executive Secretary for the Economic Commission for Africa at the United Nations. Ms. Songwe previously served as Regional Director for Africa at the International Finance Corporation. She has held numerous positions at the World Bank, such as Country Director for Senegal, Cape Verde, The Gambia, Guinea Bissau and Mauritania. She holds a PhD in Mathematical Economics from the Centre for Operations Research and Econometrics, an MA in Law and Economics from the Université Catholique De Louvain, and a BA in Economics and Political Science from the University of Michigan.
