13th and 14th of May: KPMG Doing business in Africa seminars

Norwegian companies are welcome to KPMG “Doing business in Africa” seminars in Oslo and Stavanger on the 13th and the 14th of May. Africa is home to some of the world’s fastest-growing economies, and many Norwegian companies are looking to establish operations in Africa. Investments are driven by the oil & gas discoveries and are attracting global oil & gas players, oil & gas service companies and infrastructure providers. Many Norwegian players have already established business in West Africa and are now looking towards the East for new opportunities.There are many challenges to overcome in order to ensure sustainable solutions and success for all parties in these markets. This seminar is designed to provide advice on the main challenges and pitfalls which may arise when doing business in the region. It will be hosted by KPMG’s leading industry experts from our African practice. We will look at opportunities and challenges and provide guidance on how to successfully do business when investing in Africa. We will also hear from Eivind Fjeldstad, CEO of the Norwegian-African Business Association who will share his experiences from supporting Norwegian businesses in Africa.

Agenda

The seminar which is the second in a series of hot topics to be hosted by KPMG for the oil & gas and services industry. It will address the following key items for West Africa and specifically Angola and Nigeria and East Africa:

• Africa’s oil reserves, potential and prospective
• Regulations in relation to business ownership and structure
• Taxation of oil and gas operations
• Taxation of internationally mobile individuals
• Insight into challenges and opportunities for Norwegians in Africa

Lead speakers from KPMG Africa, as well as guest speaker from the Norwegian-African Business Association (NABA).

• Gustavo Amaral is Head of Tax, KPMG Angola and responsible for several major clients within the Oil & Gas industry operating in West Africa.
• Ajibola Olomola is Head of Tax, Transaction Services & Outsourcing, KPMG Nigeria and responsible for coordinating tax advisory services to clients based in the Gulf of Guinea.
• Benson Ndung’u is Managing Partner and Country Leader for KPMG Uganda, with extensive experience in the ENR sector and from auditing multi-national companies.
• Victor Onyenkpa is Head of Tax, Regulatory and People Services, KPMG Nigeria and has served on the Technical Committee set up by the Federal Government of Nigeria on the Petroleum Industry Bill.
• Eivind Fjeldstad is Managing Director for NABA (Norwegian-African Business Association) which supports Norwegian businesses in Africa.
