Pilot Program for Clean Energy and Climate Expertise in Tunisia

Last year, NABA in cooperation with the Embassy of Tunisia in Oslo held a “Tunisia is open for business” seminar with more than 60 participants. This initiative has resulted in a pre-feasibility study for clean energy and climate expertise in Tunisia between Sintef,  NABA member Boost Global Innovation and the National Agency for Energy Conservation (ANME) in Tunisia.The planned program will support the ambitious Tunisian targets of 30 percent renewable energy by 2030 and the Tunisian Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMA`s) under the UNFCCC.The program is developed in cooperation with the National Agency for Energy Conservation (ANME), the technology park The Pôle Technologique de Borg El Cedria, Ecole National d`Ingénieurs de Tunis (ENIT), Tunisia Polytechnic School and STEG, the national power production and distribution company. The program will focus on education, technology transfer and networking program and is co-financed by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. When this core education program is in place, the program’s ultimate goal is to apply for additional co-financial sources and develop the program into a physical hub for Clean Energy and Climate Expertise in Tunisia and invite private sector and NABA members to participate through co-financing opportunities with the NMFA program.Photo from a recent planning session in Tunis by Sintef.
