The Norwegian Parliament establishes All-Party Africa Group

On Wednesday 11th of May the Norwegian Parliament established the All-Party Africa Group – the first of its kind among the Nordic countries.

The Parliament group consists of 22 Members from all parties, and Mr. Kjell Ingolf Ropstad (KrF) was elected as the group’s first Chairperson. In addition, Ms. Trine Skei Grande (Venstre) and Ms. Sølvi Graham (Høyre) forms the Parliament Group’s coordination board.

We congratulate the Norwegian Parliament on this historic decision. This group will make sure our Members of Parliament stays informed and up to speed about both challenges and opportunities in African countries.

In the launching meeting various topics for future meetings were discussed. The Parliament’s All-Party Africa Group will organise briefing sessions in the parliament and trips for the MPs. The Norwegian-African Business Association (NABA) – in partnership with the Norwegian Council on Africa – will form the parliament group’s secretariat.
