East Africa welcomes oil and gas investments

A NABA business mission has this week participated in the 6th East Africa Petroleum Conference and Exhibition in Arusha, Tanzania. NABA founding member Statoil presented the company’s future plans. After finding significant gas reserves in block 2 offshore Tanzania, Statoil might consider building an LNG-plant in Tanzania. Before a investment decision is made, more wells will be drilled over the next 2 – 3 years. This is a long-term project, and if the investment decision is positive an LNG-plant might be ready to produce LNG from 2020, stated Statoil’s Country Director Bjørn Albert Rasmussen at the conference.
