Amalie Østhassel
Chief Operating Officer (COO)
Amalie Østhassel is the COO of the Norwegian-African Business Association (NABA).
Ms. Østhassel started her professional career as a financial consultant for the UK RAF and the US Air Force in 2016, working on commercial contracts and procurement of infrastructure facilities for the defence industries. Following this, she worked for DFID as a Project Manager in Sierra Leone before joining the Norwegian Embassy in New Delhi, India and the Financial Mechanism Office (FMO) in Brussels, Belgium. She has previously lived in Zimbabwe, Sierra Leone, India, England, Sweden, Belgium and Kenya.
Ms. Østhassel is about to complete a P.hD in Economic Geography at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), titled; Power, Proximity and Value in Digital Agriculture. Her research explored the effects of digital up- and downstream distribution systems on the sustainable transition of agricultural value chains in East-Africa.
Prior to this, Ms. Østhassel graduated with a MSc. in Innovation and Global Sustainable Development from the School of Economics at Lund University in Sweden and a BSc. from Queen Mary University of London.
