Connecting Continents: The Strategic Role of the Lobito Corridor in Africa’s Energy and Infrastructure Growth
This session will explore the transformative potential of the Lobito Corridor as a strategic infrastructure and logistics backbone for Africa. With its capacity to connect landlocked countries to Atlantic ports, the corridor offers a unique opportunity to accelerate trade, industrialization and regional integration, particularly in the context of AfCFTA. Key discussions will focus on how the Lobito corridor can support the development of resilient, climate-smart infrastructure that facilitates the export and processing of critical minerals from the Copperbelt to global markets. Participants will examine opportunities to leverage the corridor for renewable energy integration, enabling cleaner power grids and advancing Africa’s energy transition.
The session will also highlight investment opportunities and partnership models that can drive the corridor’s success. Special attention will be given to public-private collaboration, showcasing how governments, private sector actors and development finance institutions can work together to maximize impact. Finally, the dialogue will assess the broader socioeconomic benefits of the Lobito corridor, from job creation and regional connectivity to enhanced market access and inclusive growth, positioning it as a catalyst for sustainable development across the continent.
