From Source to Shelf: Realizing Africa–Nordic Agricultural Trade Potential

For forward-looking investors, the African continent offers not only untapped agricultural opportunity but also a dynamic, youthful workforce ready to drive transformation. By investing in African countries today, stakeholders can be part of a future that is resilient, equitable and globally impactful. Part of that is ensuring the processing of raw materials, and the value of this, increasingly takes place on the African continent. In addition to creating jobs and providing African companies a fair share of the value added from their work in the supply chains, the new geo-political context makes African production a favourable choice for many global procurement processes. By sourcing directly from the continent, investing in local value addition and understanding the opportunity space of African agri-business, Nordic companies will be able to access robust, reliable and high-quality value chains.

This session invites reflection on how to mitigate trade-related risks, develop commercially viable models for local processing and value addition, and establish long-term, mutually beneficial partnerships between Nordic and African actors. Through short business presentations and open dialogue, the session aims to build mutual understanding, spark new partnerships and explore practical ways to grow direct trade between African suppliers and Nordic buyers.
