Mr. Terje Osmundsen
CEO of Empower New Energy
Mr. Terje Osmundsen was born 1 February 1957 in Stavanger and is a Norwegian business leader and former politician ( H ).
Osmundsen is the founder and CEO of Empower New Energy, a platform company for investments in small and medium-sized solar and hydropower projects in developing countries, and he had 4 successful projects in Egypt recently.
From 2009 to October 2017, Osmundsen was Executive Vice President of the solar energy company Scatec Solar, where he was responsible for the company’s development of new emerging markets, among others. South Africa, the Middle East and Ukraine.
He has a master’s degree in political science. in political science, with economics and public law as supporting subjects, from the University of Oslo and also studied political science and international finance at American University 1976–1977.
Osmundsen was chairman of Unge Høyre 1979–1980 and personal adviser to Prime Minister Kåre Willoch 1981–1985. He was also a research attaché at the Norwegian Embassy in Paris 1985–1986 and took the initiative and was project manager for «Scenarios year 2000» 1986–1987. From 1987-1989 he was assistant director of Saga Petroleum and was further assistant director of Alcatel in Paris 1989–1991, deputy managing director of NHO 1991–1994, director of Kvaerner 1994–1997, and managing director of Universitetsforlaget 1997–1998. He ran the analysis company Preview 2000–2003 and was editor and founder of the magazine and think tank Mandag Morgen 2003–2009.
Osmundsen is chairman of the board of Caritas Norway and a board member of listed REC Silicon. He is also a regular contributor to the online magazine Energi og Klima, and has previously been chairman of the board of the climate research institute Cicero.
