High level luncheon with Ministers from the Government of Ghana

Norwegian companies – operating or planning to invest in Ghana – are welcome to a lunch with Minister of Energy H.E. Peter Amewu, Minister of Finance H.E. Ken Ofori-Atta and Minister of Transport H.E. Kweku Ofori Asiamah, hosted by our member company Aker Energy.

This lunch meeting is co-organised with Norwegian Energy Partners (NORWEP) and the Confederation of Norwegian Enterprise (NHO). Please note: limited number of seats.

H.E. Ken Ofori-Atta

Minister of Finance

H.E. Ken Ofori-Atta, assumed office as Ghana’s Finance Minister on January 27, 2017. He brings to the Ministry over 30 years’ experience in Ghanaian and international financial sector.

H.E. Ofori-Atta was a Co-Founder and former Chairman of the Databank Group (an investment banking firm) in Ghana.

Prior to co-founding Databank in 1990, the Hon Minister was an investment banker at Morgan Stanley and Salomon Brothers on Wall Street in New York. He has other business interests in Insurance, Retail Banking, Private Equity, Micro finance, Pharmaceuticals and Real Estate.

H.E. Ofori-Atta went to Achimota School in Accra, Ghana; received a BA in Economics from Columbia University in New York and an MBA from the Yale School of Management.

H.E. John-Peter Amewu

Minister of Energy

H.E. Amewu has more than 15 years’ experience in Government, Private Sector, Civil Society and International Development Organizations.

He has participated and undergone several mining professional training and attained various certificates from some Australia’s prestigious Universities (University of Sydney and University of Western Australia).

H.E. Amewu is a Cost Engineer by profession with broader knowledge in the Energy and Mining Industry. He is a Co-founder of Africa Center for Energy Policy – ACEP; and also worked as the Director of Policy and Research where he provided pro-active and comprehensive policy related advice to support a variety of Government and Private Sector Projects.

He is the Chairman of Board of Directors of major private institutions in Ghana and a professional international consultant in his area of expertise (Mining and Petroleum). His contributions in providing solutions to the problems in the Energy Sector in Ghana have earned him both local and international acclamation and recognition.

H.E. Amewu holds an MBA (Finance) from University of Ghana. He also has a Post Graduate Degree (Executive MBA in International Energy Industry Management), and Masters in Petroleum Law and Policy from University of Dundee (UK).

H.E. Kweku Ofori Asiamah

Minister of Transport

H.E. Kweku Ofori Asiamah is a graduate of University of Cape Coast and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree. After his National service with Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority, Tema, in 2000, he worked as Marketing Manager at Household Aluminium Company Ltd.

He has also worked at Quest Resource Development Consultancy Ltd, and General Manager of Josa Plus Ventures.

He served as a member of NPP campaign team in the Central Region in 2008, 2012 and 2016. He also served as a member of National Council of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) from 2009 to date. He is married with four children.
