Tunisia Business Outlook

NHO and NABA members are invited to a lively conversation with the Tunisian Ambassador to Norway H.E Amel Ben Younes and other important stakeholders from Tunisia who will cover key sectors, trends and opportunities driving the business agenda in Tunisia and in Africa. This digital event will allow the Norwegian business community to discover the untold success story of Tunisia as a gateway to Africa: startups, Investment funds, trade, innovation and other topics will be discussed with participants.

H.E. Ms Amel Ben Younes

Ambassador of Tunisia in Norway

Ms. Amel Ben Younes is a 23-year career diplomat at the Tunisian Foreign Service. She currently holds the rank of Minister Plenipotentiary.

She has an extensive experience in designing and monitoring bilateral cooperation and development programs with Sweden, Italy, Turkey and the United States. She has a special interest in geostrategic and humanitarian affaires, Think Tanks as well as civil society networks.

She holds a master’s degree in legal sciences and international law for environment. She earned executive diplomas in geostrategic affairs, Mediterranean studies and American foreign policy as well as a Certificate of Achievement in Leadership awarded from “The Abshire-Inamori Leadership Academy (AILA) at Center for Strategic and International Studies”.

She speaks fluent French, English, Spanish and Italian as well as Arabic her first language.

Mr. Anis Jaziri

President of Tunisia-Africa Business Council TABC

Mr. Anis Jaziri is an engineer graduated from ENIT promotion 1992, with a DESS in Management and an MBA in Finance. He began his career in the United States as a Fulbright Researcher at Industrial and Operations engineering Michigan US. Back in Tunis in 1997 he assumed the industrial direction for ten years of a leading group in the field of precision mechanics, plastics, energy and fluids. In 2006 he launched his consulting firm Global-Management Business Engineering, then CASANOVA, SILVER and Tunisia Connecting Africa. For three years (2012-2014) he was appointed economic advisor to the President of the Republic. In 2015 he launched with leading personalities from the business community the Tunisia-Africa Business Council TABC. He is currently the president of this successful organization which quickly became the leader in in facilitating Buisness in Sub-Saharan Africa. In 2018 he launched with Tunisian authorities "CAPES" the African Center for Prospective and Strategic Studies, and in 2020 he is launching a new initiative, the "Tunisia Business Council WORLDWIDE" to make Tunisia a platform for Africa.

InstaDeep co-founder

Karim helps companies get a grip on the latest AI breakthroughs and deploy them. A graduate of France’s Ecole Polytechnique and former Program Fellow at the Courant Institute in New York, Karim co-founded InstaDeep, a leading EMEA startup that focuses on AI decision making for the Enterprise. Nominated in 2020 by CB Insights in the Top 100 most promising AI startups in the world, InstaDeep was started as a bootstrap in Tunis and now has offices in London, Paris, Tunis, Lagos, Dubai and Cape Town. Karim is a Deep Learning Indaba Steering Committee Member and a Google Developer Expert in Machine Learning. He also mentors at Google For Startups Accelerator and contributes to various educational initiatives aiming at democratizing AI.

Mr. Nazeh Ben Ammar

Vice President of Carthage Business Angels

After graduating from Purdue University with a double major in Industrial Engineering and Mathematics, Operation Research, Mr. Ben Ammar pursued a master degree from Stanford University in Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management. Mr. Ben Ammar‘s thesis on start-ups and entrepreneurship.

 Mr. Ben Ammar started his career as a service engineer in the oil industry to develop it rapidly afterwards into an investment company in Fribourg Switzerland. He held the chairman position of MAMI Holding one of the leading trade house and turnkey factory supplier for the textile industry. Mr. Ben Ammar is also the president and chairman of Excellencia, a building technology consultancy and suppliers for building technology solutions. Mr. Ben Ammar managed also companies in the textile industry, distribution, software development, and international trading.

Mr. Ben Ammar has certain numbers of honors and awards as the - Alpha pi Mu –Industrial Engineering Honorary - Distinguished Student – Dean’s List - Certificate of Honor from Purdue University University’s Mathematics department - International Students Scholarship – Purdue University. 

Mr. Ben Ammar is the past president of the Tunisian American Chamber of Commerce and the past Vice President of the AmCham MENA Council. He was also president of the Rotaract Club of Carthage, Tunisia. He is among the founding members of CONECT (Confédération Nationale des Entreprises Citoyennes de Tunisie, Employer Association), Carthage Business Angel, and Wiki Startup. He is also a member of board of the Tunisian German Chamber of Commerce (AHK). Mr. Ben Ammar is the past president of Carthage Business Angels, and presently the vice president. He has more than 6 startups in his portfolios.

 Mr. Nazeh Ben Ammar is also the president of a philanthropic NGO, les Coquelicots de Thala, to help deprived children from the region of Thala, Tunisia.

Mr. Ben Ammar is father of one child.

Mr. Abdelbasset GHANMI

General Manager, Invest in Tunisia Agency - FIPA

Mr. GHANMI is the General Manager of the Invest in Tunisia Agency. He has more than 20 years’ experience promoting Tunisia as an attractive destination for foreign investment. He served as the Representative of

FIPA Tunisia at the London and Brussels Offices for many years.

Prior to joining FIPA-TUNISIA in 1995, M. GHANMI represented the Agency for the Promotion of Industry and Innovation (APII). Over the years, he has contributed to the establishment of several international companies in Tunisia in various sectors.

Ms. Nejia Gharbi

Senior civil servant, Nejia Gharbi holds a master’s degree in management from FSEG Tunis in 1987 and a higher graduate degree from ENA back in 1991.

She has nearly 30 years of experience and expertise in the field of control, management of public enterprises, financing and investing. She initiated her professional career by taking a position in general control of the public services of the prime minister in April 1991, where she spent 10 years, before overseeing the Administrative and Financial      management of  a project  undertaken to manage and promote cultural heritages during 8

Years, financed by the World Bank, then hired as a state controller in charge of the phosphate sector, fertilizers and hydrocarbons’ transport, attached to the prime minister for 3 years, after that she took the position of an executive secretary in Tunisair from February 2012 to June 2014 , before being appointed representative of the office of the head of government and  Executive Director of the Central Investor Support Unit.

In April 2018, she was selected to be a Deputy Director at la Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations CDC. She was also designated since November 2015 as a chairman of the board of directors of STB in addition to its current responsibilities (until her second office term) and Managing Director in charge of the bank’s management since January 2nd, 2021.  

She has numerous international and local certifications from known organizations:

  • In PPP by APMG, under the aegis of the BM by the "Professional Certificate in PPP".

  • In Bank Governance given by The London Institute of Banking and Finance, the Academy of Banks and Financing and IFID, in the field of ​​bank governance.

  • In Good Governance by the Institute of Good Governance in Berlin.

  • In leadership given by The Tunisian Leadership Institute.

  • In Bank Governance by London Institute of Banking and Finance.

Nejia Gharbi is entitled as a Woman Manager of the Public Sector 2020, by the TFMA Prize, Co-organized by CONNECT and ALMA’S.
