NABA Member of the Month August 2017: SPEAR Capital

Member of the month of August is the private equity firm SPEAR Capital – the first Norwegian investment firm focusing exclusively on African markets.

Last month, the CEO of Dendairy, one of their investees in Zimbabwe, Darren Coetze, became winner of ”Business man of the year in Zimbabwe” at the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC) Annual Congress.

Other companies in SPEAR Capital’s portfolio includes Metro Wholesalers (Zimbabwe’s largest wholesaler) and Polymeric Africa, a South African ink manufacturer. In Zimbabwe, SPEAR Capitals investees employ more than 1300 people. Investors in SPEAR Capital includes some of the most prominent family offices in Scandinavia.

SPEAR invests in consumer-based businesses supported by the spending of the African middle class. This includes local manufacturing and processing industries: food & beverage, retail/wholesale and pharma.
