Highlights from NABA’s Tanzania-Norway Business Forum

On February 13, 2024, in conjunction with with the official visit to Norway by H.E. Samia Suluhu Hassan, the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, NABA hosted a high level business Forum in Oslo to explore opportunities for investment and partnership between Tanzania and Norway.

The occasion brought together a large delegation from Tanzania, including government representatives and members of the business community, as well as members of the Norwegian government, companies, and investors. We were also fortunate to have in attendance His Royal Highness, Crown Prince Haakon of Norway.

Norway’s Minister of Trade and Industry, Jan Christian Vestre, gave the opening keynote address, highlighting the challenges and opportunities for transformative investments and the green transition.

This was followed by the main keynote address by H.E. Samia Suluhu Hassan, who emphasised the strong partnership between Tanzania and Norway, and the growing diversity of opportunities for mutually beneficial investment between the two countries.

The president then joined Ole-Erik Almlid, CEO of Confederation of Norwegian Enterprise (NHO), for a conversation about the role of gender equality in driving economic development, including the NHO pioneered Female Future Program.

On the private sector side, Norwegian companies active in Tanzania gave presentations about their investments and strategies for the country. This included presentations by Svein Tore Holsether, CEO of Yara, Karoline Myklebust Linde, CEO of Laerdal Global Health, Philippe François Mathieu, Executive Vice President for Exploration and Production International (EPI), Equinor, and Erik Sandersen, Executive Vice President, Financial Inclusion, at Norfund.

From Tanzania, there were presentations by Gilead Teri, Executive Director of the Tanzania Investment Centre, Seif Ali Seif, Chairman of Super Group, and Rostam Aziz, Chairman of Taifa Gas.

A big thank you to all our members, partners, and participants who helped to make the Tanzania-Norway Business Forum a success. It was a great occasion to commemorate 60 years of partnership between the two countries.
