Mr. Per Pharo

Director of Department for Climate and Environment, the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad)

Mr. Per Pharo is Director of Norad’s Department for Climate and Environment. Before this, he spent two years as Norad’s Director of Partnerships and Shared Prosperity, following 14 years running Norway’s International Climate and Forest Initiative. In 2018-2019, he took a one-year leave of absence to work as co-lead author of the Food and Land Use Coalition Global Consultation Report, Growing Better: Ten Critical Transitions to Transform Food and Land Use.

Previously, Mr. Pharo held leadership positions in the Norwegian Ministry of Defence and worked at McKinsey & Company and the Norwegian Institute of Defence Studies. He holds a B.A. in Government and International Affairs from Augustana University and a Candidatus Philologiae in history from the University of Oslo.
