Niger

Niger, located at the heart of the Sahel in West Africa, has a predominantly agricultural economy that is increasingly complemented by oil. Growth rebounded sharply to an estimated 8.4% in 2024, driven by the start of large-scale crude exports through the Niger–Benin pipeline and a strong agricultural season, and is projected to remain above 6% in 2025 as oil production approaches full capacity at around 106,000 barrels per day. GDP growth is projected to average 6.7% in 2026–2027, supported by oil output nearing full capacity and stronger demand, while inflation is expected to ease toward the West African Monetary Union's 1–3% target range by 2027 on the back of good harvests. The World Bank's FY26–31 Country Partnership Framework prioritises foundational infrastructure, job creation, and developing markets in energy and agriculture for the country's young and rapidly growing population.
