Tanzania

Tanzania has built a track record of macroeconomic stability, with a relatively diversified economy in which agriculture accounts for about a quarter of total value addition, industry for a third, and services for the remainder, and agriculture remains the largest source of employment with more than half of Tanzanians working in the sector. The country benefits from vast natural endowments, favorable demographics, and ambitious public investments, and in recent years has seen growing FDI supported by improvements in the business environment. Tanzania runs a sustainable current account deficit of around 3.3% of GDP in 2025, with strong prices for gold and buoyant tourism and agricultural exports supporting the external position. GDP grew 6.0% in 2025 and is projected to reach 6.3% in 2026, making Tanzania one of East Africa's most consistently performing economies.
