Algeria

Algeria is the largest country in Africa and the third-largest Arab economy, with a development model historically anchored in the oil and gas sector, which accounts for around 13% of GDP, 83% of exports, and 46% of budget revenues. GDP grew by 3.8% in 2025, with non-hydrocarbon sectors expanding by 5.4% and inflation easing to 1.7%, supported by lower food prices and a stable exchange rate. A series of structural reforms — including a 2022 Investment Law, a 2023 Banking and Monetary Law, and 2024 accession to the African Continental Free Trade Area — signal a commitment to private-sector-led diversification.
