Cameroon

Cameroon is the largest economy in the Central African Economic and Monetary Community (CEMAC) and is endowed with rich natural resources, including oil and gas, mineral ores, high-value timber, and agricultural products such as cocoa, coffee, cotton, maize, and cassava. Its Atlantic coastline and central position — bordering Nigeria, Chad, the Central African Republic, Equatorial Guinea, and Gabon — make it a natural trade and logistics gateway for the wider region. Real GDP grew by 3.5% in 2024, up from 3.2% in 2023, supported by firmer cocoa prices, higher cotton yields, and improved electricity supply, with growth expected to strengthen towards 4% over the medium term. Inflation has eased steadily, falling from 7.4% at the end of 2023 to around 4.1% by mid-2025 and projected to reach 3% by 2027 on the back of tighter monetary policy and lower imported costs. As a member of CEMAC, Cameroon benefits from a stable, euro-pegged currency, and the World Bank has highlighted its forests and natural capital as a significant long-term asset.
