Democratic Republic of the Congo
The Democratic Republic of the Congo is the largest country in Sub-Saharan Africa and is endowed with exceptional natural resources, including cobalt, copper, vast hydroelectric potential, significant arable land, immense biodiversity, and the world's second-largest rainforest. Mining remains the principal driver of the economy, with output growing 10.1% in 2025 on strong copper production and exports, while non-mining sectors expanded by 3.1%, led by construction and services. Macroeconomic conditions strengthened over the year: inflation decelerated sharply to 7.5% in 2025 from 17.7% in 2024, supported by tight monetary policy, lower global food and fuel prices, and a stable exchange rate, while the Congolese franc appreciated by around 5% on an annual average as export revenues and external financing helped rebuild reserves. GDP growth is projected to average 5.1% over 2026–2028, supported by the country's mineral base and ongoing investment.
