Uganda
Uganda's economy has remained resilient, with growth strong at 6.7% year-on-year in the second half of 2025, driven by robust private consumption and broad-based performance across industry — particularly manufacturing and construction — and services, while agriculture slowed on lower rainfall. Tight monetary policy kept inflation at 3.5%, below the central bank's 5% target, though progress remains constrained by the slow pace of reforms and rising fiscal pressures. Agriculture is still the economic mainstay at 24% of GDP and 72% of employment, with gold, coffee, tourism, and remittances the top foreign exchange earners, while sizeable copper, cobalt, iron, and rare earth deposits add further potential.
